Apple Vision Pro Launches with Over 600 Exclusive Apps

The Vision Pro headset just launched and Apple announced it built over 600 apps for the gadget. This means there are lots of apps to play around with, which of course, includes games of different genres, utility apps, streaming apps, and other categories. The Vision Pro headset is the most expensive VR headset ever – launched with an RRP of $3,500.

Apple shipped its Vision Pro headset to all of its stores across the United States on February 2, 2024. This news update came along with a notification of all-new spatial apps built exclusively for the headset. Of course, the Vision Pro headset is also compatible with a lot of apps you will find on the Apple App Store.

Apple Vision Pro Gets 600+ Exclusive Apps on Launch

Ever since Apple announced the Vision Pro headset, it’s been on the news all the time. Many keep asking why it comes with such a high price tag, while others are more concerned about what the headset has to offer as a “Spatial” VR headset.

Apple Vision Pro Exclusive Apps

Well, the Vision Pro headset is announced to run on VisionOS but will be compatible with iOS and iPadOS applications. This means you can install iPhone and iPad apps on the headset and enjoy! However, in recent news, Apple had just announced that it developed VisionOS exclusive apps for the Vision Pro headset – there are at least 600 of these apps, according to Apple.

The apps span streaming services, productivity tools, games, and education. According to Apple, its Vision Pro headset has an infinite canvas; so apps can push beyond the traditional display for more immersive experiences. The headset also comes with a unique three-dimensional user interface controller by the wearer – using eyes, hands, or voice.

Apple looks bullish on this headset, and there are obviously many VR enthusiasts willing to bank on the $3.5k wearable. That success depends in large part on the good turnout of dedicated developers who’ve already created more than 600 spatial apps and games specifically designed for the headset.

In Susan Prescott’s words, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, “Apple Vision Pro is unlocking the imaginations of our worldwide developer community, and we’re inspired by the range of spatial experiences they’ve created for this exciting new platform. With more than 600 new spatial experiences to explore in the all-new App Store, alongside more than 1 million compatible apps across iOS and iPadOS, users can discover a wide array of apps that expand the boundaries of what’s possible. These incredible apps will change how we experience entertainment, music, and games; spark our imaginations with new ways to learn and explore; unlock productivity like never before; and so much more. Developers are already capturing the promise of spatial computing, and we can’t wait to see what they create next.

What’s The Fuss About?

As a spatial mixed-reality headset, Apple Vision Pro allows its wearers to control the virtual world they are in with gestures, voice, and eyes. Vision Pro is being marketed as a big innovation in spatial computing, and having many dedicated developers put out over 600 full spatial apps for the headset already is “crazy.” Tells more about how more developers will turn their focus to making spatial apps.

“With Apple Vision Pro and the power of spatial computing, Apple is teeing us up to deliver an innovative and immersive way of experiencing professional golf,” said Scott Gutterman, PGA TOUR’s senior vice president of Digital Operations.

What Apps Are On Apple Vision Pro?

According to the news article, the 600+ apps seem to be entertainment and streaming apps. It has the NBA app, which offers up to five broadcasts live or on-demand with Multiview. Also, the MLB app was mentioned too – and the MLS app. Wearers will also have access to streaming services apps of Comcast Xfinity, Charter Spectrum, Sling TV, Cox Contour, and Verizon Fios.

It doesn’t stop there, other worthy mentions were apps of ESPN, CBS, NBC, NBC Sports, Paramount+, FOX Sports, Peacock, and the UFC. It’s a whole lot of entertaining apps available for Vision Pro users, and then again, you can still install iOS and iPadOS apps.

What of the Apple TV app? No way it shouldn’t be in the list of available apps. Yes, the Apple TV app is included. The Apple TV app is available for users to access all Apple Originals – over 200 3D movies and Apple Immersive Video to catch up with. Remember, the Vision Pro headset offers 180-degree FOV, and you can enjoy 8K 3D recordings with Spatial Audio.

Similarly, Apple Music is available too – where Vision Pro users can listen to and download songs with Spatial Audio featuring Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio.
