Real VR Fishing Reaches 1 Million Sales Milestone After 7-Year Journey

Dev United games recently announced a major milestone in their journey. Real VR Fishing, their flagship game, has sold more than one million copies worldwide. This takes into account the sales from all 5 platforms it’s available on, since its launch in 2019.

The studio CEO Mark Choi took to X to make this announcement. In the post he confirmed that the sales milestone includes Quest, Steam, Pico, and Samsung Galaxy XR. One of the major things that helped with the sales boost was that the game remained active across the platforms. The studio kept adding new updates and versions, making the 7 year journey reach this milestone.

Real VR Fishing, as the name suggests, is a VR fishing simulation focused on realistic environments and relaxed gameplay. Newer updates usually include additional fishing locations taking real-world reference from across regions, such as Mexico, Japan, parts of the United States, and Europe. These locations were introduced gradually over several years.

Choi also noted that further updates are in development. According to reports, the studio is all set to come up with a mastery-based Fly-Fishing system. This comes with a purpose to add more depth and provide a better immersive experience.  Competitive play is expected to grow through new leagues and tournament formats.

The title recently launched on Samsung Galaxy XR, adding native hand tracking support. Players can now choose to play together even while using different headsets. The improved cross-play feature has further excited the regular players, with the feature available across all platforms.

With one million copies sold and additional updates scheduled, Real VR Fishing continues to receive development support even after seven years of its original release.
